I have to admit I was underwhelmed by the ads for “Madagascar”, it honest didn’t eye that fine. But my kids were anxious to contemplate it so I dragged myself into the theater on Saturday ready to peek another kiddie movie along the lines of “Shark Epic” or “Home on the Range”. I did not interrogate to luxuriate in the movie as mighty as my seven year feeble….if not more. “Madagascar” is not only a tremendous interesting film and packs as many laughs into it’s hour and half as either “Shrek” movie did, “Madagascar” is fair a gargantuan comedy. There were several times in the movie that were impartial laugh out loud droll, the scene with the Penguins in Antarctica was worth the label of admission for me! There are plenty of jokes aimed at an older audience, like the reference to “The Twilight Zone” episode “How to Succor Man”. The anecdote is tremendous and the characters are really fun. The visuals are beautiful and the animation is genuine. Add all that together with a spacious soundtrack, and I contemplate “Madagascar” is a colossal plot to kick off the summer movie season. This one ranks accurate up there with “The Incredibles” and “Shrek”.

Madagascar is a cute and amusing movie. Parents and kids were laughing through most of the movie. (there was an itsy-bitsy while where the tale gets dumb.) But, I care for the penguins and the fact that they are always so sneaky; they really select the prove from the main characters. If you have kids this is a sure must stare, we had kids laughing the whole time and most loved the quick-witted colors, music and especially dancing. You saw a lot of miniature kids dancing in their chairs. People without kids or older kids will also savor the movie as it has a lot of jokes for adults to sustain us entertained and laughing; the sparkling colors are also mountainous for us as well as the dancing and music. I felt this cartoon lived up to its previews and the map it was perceived. My only hope is if they do a 2nd one that they include more of those sneaky penguins.

Critics are generally not very nice to movies like this one. I guess THEY didn’t grow up watching this kind of stuff and don’t have those fond memories (which explains the 4 stars) . The night me and my family got cable tv in the early 80s (first ones in the neighborhood) this hilarious flick was on. Nudity on the boob tube was unruffled something unique to us. So Zapped! was objective about the coolest waggish movie I’d ever seen. Watching it now is serene a delight! Impartial amusing non-sense…but awfully fun! The young lady from The Facts of Life tv display is astronomical (and looks like my niece) . Baio may be a limited TOO nerdy, but he and Aames are believable friends. Plus, anything with Scatman Crothers (The Bright, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Twilight Zone: The Movie) is worth seeing. This could be the 1982 equivalent of movies like American Pie. Unbiased leave your brain at the door, pop this in the machine and you’ll collect worthy to delight in on a sluggish saturday afternoon. Try a triple feature with Sixteen Candles and Unprejudiced One of The Guys (or Queer Science and The Breakfast Club) .

NOTES: The mark outside the music store says “8 Tracks”. I feel so Conventional!! Speaking of, there are at least 2 terrific songs on the soundtrack, “Got to fill in Magic”, “King and Queen of Hearts”, etc. Worth the notice alone.

I don’t know why critics are so hard on this movie, clear Zapped may not be a movie that you could recount getting an Oscar for best narrate but I level-headed mediate it is a genuine movie and I have a lot of fun watching it and I believe Scott Baio, Willie Aames, Felice Schatcher and Heather Thomas all are obedient, there is nudity in this movie but only briefly and anyone who says that there is no nudity probably saw it edited on TV, I have the movie unedited on video and there is indeed brief nudity especially come the raze of the movie during the dance, I am rating this cute, laughable movie a 5 and I wish it would accept onto a wide-screen DVD. Don’t listen to the arty farty critics, they are a bunch of snobs who wouldn’t know a fun scrumptious movie it it came up and bit them on their butts!

This movie was by far one of the best martial arts films ever. Even in the first few minutes of the movie I could feel the run to go out and try these moves for myself. The music is awesom! You may need to tiring, your VCR down so you can catch in all the action in the fighting sequences. This movie introduced me to Capoeira and I am now a student under Mestre Almira. Axe!

The movie is marvelous. The fight scenes have amazing fluidity, and the movie in general has a lot of color, light and motion. Some of the scenes in Brazil are honest very fine to inspect at in addition to the scenes where people play capoeira. The absolutely best portion of the movie besides the visual sequences of capoeira is the music. Once you hear this music you honest spontaneously feel like dancing capoeira. The yarn might be cliche but this is raw action at its best. Does anybody know if it will be published on DVD? If it is I am obvious it would be awesome.

The Sea Hawk is, perhaps, my well-liked Errol Flynn film, with it’s rousing sea battles, amazing swordplay, chaste romance, and political intrigue, as well as a luminous Korngold derive, and Michael Curtis’ bright direction. As a video, it has had almost as circuitous a drag as Captain Thorpe had, returning to England from Panama!

When CBS/Fox first released the film to VHS, in the 80’s, the only existing prints had been edited, both for theatrical rereleases in the leisurely 40s, and for television. This was the ‘accepted’ version of the film, even though it was widely known that The Sea Hawk was several minutes longer aid in 1940.

Then, a copy of the Unusual print was found, in England, and CBS/Fox snappy repackaged it, and released it as UNCUT. This is the version we leer today, apt down to the ‘British Board of Censors’ Approval, at the begin of the film. The best known additions to the film were Queen Elizabeth’s stirring speech (written as a slap at the Nazis) ; a brief, almost leering scene, as Thorpe prepares to have a lovers’ rendevous; and, most importantly, a sepia-tinted version of the Panama scenes, that captures the sweltering heat of the jungle!

The additions invent The Sea Hawk even MORE delightful for both film buffs and Flynn fans! If you haven’t seen it, yet, you’re in for a treat!

This is the sort of romantic adventure that Hollywood doesn’t originate noteworthy anymore–the sort of movie that has been superseded, lamentably, by the speical effects-laden action movies of today. “The Sea Hawk” is one of the finest of the genre.

In one of his finest performances, Errol Flynn is Captain Geoffrey Thorpe, an English privateer modeled after Sir Francis Drake. War looms between Elizabethan England and Spain. We meet Captain Thorpe when he captures a Spanish ship carrying the unique Ambassador, Don Alvarez, and his half-English niece, Donna Maria (played by a dazzling Brenda Marshall) . As Thorpe conveys the ambassador to England, sparks skim between him and Donna Maria, of the sort that let us know that they’re made for each other.

At Queen Elizabeth’s court, Thorpe’s fellow “sea hawks” press the queen to construct up a lickety-split, while her counselor Lord Wolfingham opposes them. Thorpe, with the queen’s completely unofficial sanction, plans a blow against the Spanish, while his romance with Maria blossoms. But wait, why is Lord Wolfingham spending all that time with the Spanish Ambassador…

Besides Flynn and Marshall, the film boasts standout performances from Flora Robson as Queen Elizabeth, Claude Rains as Don Alvarez (surprisingly sympathetic towards his niece and her like for Thorpe), and Henry Daniell as the corrupt, well-named Wolfingham. Farther down the cast you have solid performances from the likes of Alan Hale, Una O’Connor and Donald Crisp.

The jewel in “The Sea Hawk’s” crown is Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s glean. Korngold was the John Williams of his day, the master of the rich orchestral film regain. Why he didn’t rep an Oscar for this, his finest gain of all, is one of Hollywood’s many mysteries.

But of course, so is the quiz of why Hollywood doesn’t create movies like this anymore.

Natalie Wood reached the zenith of her career in the early 1960’s and this is a perfect showcase for her at her absolute best in acting and beauty. _Sex and the Single Girl_ doesn’t, of course, have great to do with the dependable book, but it’s exquisite damned droll, reaching its peak of ecstatic absurdity during the last 20 minutes with a chaotic scamper up and down L.A.’s freeways. Tony Curtis, as also in _The Big Race_, provides a comical droll partner/romantic interest for Natalie, and Henry Fonda and Lauren Bacall are delightful as the battling couple who can’t live with or without each other. Magnificent example of the early-’60’s sex-comedy genre.

I’ve waited years for this movie in DVD format and am thrilled to contemplate that it will finally be released on February 3. This is a fun, lighthearted movie that is perfect for a rainy Sunday afternoon. If you savor 60’s comedies, this is a stout movie to add to your collection.
